Being Single or Lonely During the Holidays featuring Dr. Samara Toussaint, PsyD and Kimberly Parker, LCSW
This training was part of a larger training held on MLK Day 2021 to raise awareness of considerations for cultural adaptations in the field of mental health. There is a rising need among communities of color to have access to culturally competent clinicians. In this introductory training, Dr. Samara Toussaint provides information and resources for culturally competent care when assessing and treating diverse communities that have suffered some form of trauma.
Join us on this week’s Black Doctors Talk Podcast, which features our guest, Dr. Samara Toussaint. Dr. Toussaint speaks to us on the topics of mental health education and leading an effective practice. Dr. Toussaint’s background as a Haitian-American woman inspired her to become a clinical school psychologist to help increase awareness about mental health in her community. She has been featured in Allure magazine, Refinery 29, and the American Psychological Association.
