Autism, ADHD, & Behavioral Disorders

Behavioral Therapy & Parent Support

In addition to providing psychological assessments for Autism and ADHD, we also provide therapeutic services for neurodivergent children and adults suffering from symptoms that make it difficult to function at home, work, school, or in the community.

Behavioral therapy is often used in the treatment of both Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Both conditions can benefit from interventions that help individuals develop essential skills, reduce problematic behaviors, and navigate social interactions.

Here are some of the interventions that we use at P2G to treat Autism, ADHD, and other disorders which impact behavior or conduct:

  1. Social Skills Training: Both individuals with Autism and ADHD often struggle with social interactions. Social skills training can help them learn and apply skills like taking turns, making eye contact, understanding non-verbal cues, and maintaining conversations.

  2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): For older children and adolescents with autism or ADHD, CBT can be beneficial. CBT helps individuals understand the link between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and provides strategies to manage challenging situations and emotions.

  3. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): PCIT can be used with younger children with ADHD and those with ASD who exhibit disruptive behavior. Parents are coached in real-time to interact positively with their children, set clear expectations, and manage misbehavior consistently. We require that parents play an active role in treatment and require at least 2 independent, parenting support sessions within their child’s treatment plan.

  4. School-Based Interventions: These interventions can include classroom modifications, individualized education plans (IEPs), and supports such as extra time on tests or a quieter place to work, depending on the child's needs. We work with your child’s school, teachers, school psychologists, etc. in order to create the best treatment plan that will extend beyond the therapy room.
